This is a story about a girl who’s forced to live as a stranger in Korea, enduring racial prejudice. Tasha (korean name- yoon mi rae) is half African American and half Korean. as she grew up, she had a hard time searching for self identity. Yeah, korea was a sort of narrow minded society colorwise. The situation is getting better though, i think it’s still not better enough. feel sorry for her and ashamed for this
Go Tasha!! U ROCKS!! * Black Happiness by Tasha My skin was dark from my past People used to point at me Even at my mom Even at my dad who was black, and in the army People whisper behind my back Said this and said that I always had tears in my eyes Although I was young I saw my mother’s sadness Everything seemed like it was my fault Because of my guilt I washed my face everytime during the day With my tears I melt the white soap I always hated my dark skin why O why Does the world judge me When I hate the world I close my eyes I put my soul into the music my father gave me I feel the volume And fly higher and higher Far away la musique (When I hate the world) (Music soothes me) (you gotta hold on) (and love yourself) (When I hate the world) (Music raises me up) (so you gotta be strong) (you gotta hold on) (and love yourself) Time passed and I was thirteen My skin was dark brown Music doesn’t judge color They give me light I lead my music We lean on eachother I don’t feel lonely Then one day I was given a chance I held on to my microphone And suddenly I was …

@dehjavoo I was talking about black America, and in fact Africans in the homeland were taught to the same thing and were the only ones that new how and that were fast enough to track down other Africans to be caught and turned into slaves. Another thing is if they weren’t taught that in the homeland then why are they in the middle of a huge never ending war in which they are trying to wipe each other out? On another note a lot of Africans I have come across have hate for black Americans.
@dehjavoo The Africans that don’t have love for black Americans feel that we have it all, but dont take advantage of it. Just like the rest of the world.
Hey can i get the korean lyrics please?
Hey can i get the korean lyrics please?
@mossc79 Well, isn’t anyone going to finally stand up and break that cycle of hatred?
by the way, I’m not racist, and am part African myself.
@norther4life I for one am not racist towards my own people either. I understand what was done and that unless the people that caused it step in and try to fix what they did things won get better. Every black man in America that did step up and try to change things has been murdered or jailed unjustly. Whenever a black leader steps up and we follow and start growing as a people America stops the progress. What does that tell you? It sounds like fear that they will lose control…
@mossc79 I understand what you’re saying. But this battle against racism does not only belong to African Americans. There is racism against white people too, as well as hispanics and Asians and probably the worst, most violent racism ever: Against the Jews. All sides need to step up and change. It’s something that the world needs to do as a group. Not just one group at a time.
I love this <3
As an African-American (well Canadian technically. . .) This really touches me =]
dam thats nice
@JDon07 I was also wondering where her dark skin was too. I guess she means dark skin for a Korean person or maybe the lighting in the music video makes her look light skinned.
Hip Hop not Rap
Yo, T !! I love your music from your heart
it’s beautiful that you mine your beautiful music from your agony
She looks so much like Solbi!
@some1andno1 maybe she was darker growing up and got lighter(to the color she is now) later…that kinda happened to me..i remember being a lot darker growing up but as i get older, i’ve gotten considerably lighter. and no i don’t use any lightening cream or any of that sort. i’m still trying to figure out what’s happening.LOL.
@dehjavoo my grandma’s asian and she grew up never having seen a white person until she turned 60. growing up, she never had access to television either but she grew up believing light skin as being beautiful. so i don’t think it’s necessarily true that asians want to look like white people. some brainwashed people might but there are those who just prefer lighter skin. i think it might have something to do with wanting to have what you don’t have.
she looks a bit like alexis gosselin(from jon and kate plus
in her childhood pictures..same cheeky smile. cute:) not surprising considering alexis has korean in her too.
Interesting
thats not rap.its sth between pop nd hip hop..
@heomak that’s sad that so many asian countries feel that way. here in the USA people give themselves skin cancer trying to get their skin DARKER because we think that is more beautiful …. irony eh?
I’m in love with this song!!!! Being Korean and black, I felt like her here in the U.S.
@heomak haha so true i just realised tht after u said it
