What he heck? Are you freaking crazy? Roxanne Shante’s song ‘Roxanne’s Revenge’ was out BEFORE Real Roxanne – who UTFO only brought out because of Shante.
Also – Shante’s freestyle mc’ing was fully rated back then. By everyone. And look how well her career turned out.
What the heck happened to UTFO? I’m not dissing them though, because I used to love them, and Real Roxanne’s early stuff.

As far as looks went , I give it to Real Roxanne (in all fairness, Shante was only 14 when she sarted), but as far as MC-ing, it’s Shante all the way!

She was the bomb then and she is the bomb now. She is gorgeous! She was one of the best female rappers out there and she was ladylike. Some of the others were good but they had a face that only a mother could love shit………..

Jadell. Roxanne’s Revenge was just that; a revenge tune. The original version was Shante rapping (one take) over the UTFO instrumental. It was subsequently recorded cos of copyright issues.
I’d echo UdoShan’s comment; Real Roxanne had the looks but Shante was/is a superb MC. She’s always been my favourite female rapper and irrespective of her sex, one of my favourite rappers of all time
